Patricia, Mahasiswi BINUS Sukses Raih Emas Wushu
Awal Mula Menekuni Olahraga Wushu
“Aku mulai latihan wushu tahun 2011,” cerita Patrice sambil tersenyum kecil.
“Walaupun sebelumnya pernah ikut turnamen internasional, rasanya beda banget kalau bawa nama Indonesia,” ungkapnya jujur.

“Dosen memperbolehkan aku ikut kelas online, jadi proses belajarnya tetap jalan,” jelasnya.

Setelah Lulus, Mimpi Belum Berhenti

Patricia, a BINUS Student Who Successfully Won Gold in Wushu
The 2025 SEA Games have become an unforgettable moment for Patricia Geraldine, also known as Patrice. This student of the Master of Management Business Management (Fast Track) program at BINUS Business School has proudly brought honor to Indonesia by winning a gold medal in the Women’s Wushu Changquan, Jianshu, and Qiangshu events. Behind that medal, however, lies a long journey filled with tears, perseverance, and hard work.
The Beginning of Her Wushu Journey
“I started training in wushu in 2011,” Patrice shared with a small smile. Two years later, she made her debut at the national championships. Her journey then continued to junior international competitions in 2018, before she entered the national senior level in 2021.
Her path was long, gradual, and far from instant. All of those processes eventually led to the 2025 SEA Games, her first major international multi-event stage.
“Even though I’ve competed internationally before, it feels completely different when you’re representing Indonesia,” she said honestly.
A Thrilling Debut at the 2025 SEA Games
The 2025 SEA Games became a major proving ground for Indonesia’s wushu team. Although their initial target was three gold medals, the team exceeded expectations, winning five and emerging as the overall wushu champion.
This achievement also contributed to Indonesia finishing second in the overall medal standings at the 2025 SEA Games. Patrice was one of the gold medal contributors through her combined performance in changquan, jianshu, and qiangshu.
Patrice vividly remembers arriving in BSD with her parents and younger sibling. At that time, although she felt exhausted, her eyes were still sparkling. Competing for three consecutive days was no small feat. She even admitted that when she stood on the podium receiving her gold medal, her first thought was simply wanting to go home and rest.
At the same time, her emotions were mixed. Patrice confessed that she cried harder than ever after all the competitions were over, as the tension she had been holding in for days finally spilled out.
The pressure of the competition intensified because Patrice had to perform three routines combined into a single event. Normally, each routine calls for separate performances. In other words, even a small mistake could have a major impact, forcing her to maintain full focus from start to finish.
“Just imagine, three routines combined. The pressure was incredibly heavy,” Patrice said. “Malaysia was strong. But honestly, every opponent was tough.”
Behind those words, Patrice had learned an important lesson: never underestimate any opponent, regardless of first impressions.
Academics and Sports: Two Equally Important Worlds
Amid her intense training schedule, Patrice chose to pursue undergraduate studies in Management. Her reason was simple: “I want my academic and non-academic achievements to run side by side,” she said candidly.
That commitment continued when she decided to enroll in the Master of Management Business Management Fast Track program at BINUS Business School.
This program is known for its rigorous schedule and is open only to students who meet specific criteria; successful graduates can earn both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree within 4.5 years. The program also provides strong preparation for future paths such as an MBA, a Master of Management, or an MM specialization.
Her body often had to work overtime with packed schedules. In the morning, she’d do physical training, then attend classes during the day. At night, her hard work didn’t stop because she still had to work on assignments.
“I ended up having very little time to rest,” Patrice admitted.
Campus Support as a Key Foundation
Even so, Patrice was not alone in her efforts to balance academics and physical training for the 2025 SEA Games. She received strong support from her lecturers and department, allowing her to attend classes online when necessary.
“My lecturers allowed me to join classes online so that the learning process could continue,” she explained.
During her studies, she also received the Widia Scholarship from BINUS University, which fully covered her credit and semester fees for up to four years, thanks to her achievements in wushu. This support became a crucial foundation, enabling her to focus more on personal development, both as an athlete and as a student in the MM and Master of Management track.
The Dream Goes On After Graduation
Despite successfully winning a gold medal at the 2025 SEA Games, Patrice does not see it as the end of her journey. She proved it with one firm statement: “I still want to continue being an athlete for as long as I can.”
At the same time, she has begun thinking about her future beyond sports. She hopes to build a business in a field she is passionate about, believing that life becomes more meaningful when she dares to pursue both paths, sports and entrepreneurship, together, supported by her academic foundation in management, whether through an MM, a Master of Management, or even an MBA.

Fatigue sometimes overwhelmed her to the point of wanting to give up, which is only human. Yet, she chose to keep moving forward, doing her best to balance her studies, training, and plans for the future while sharing an inspiring story along the way.
