David Tjahjana’s Dissertation Defense: Digital Business Adoption and Absorptive Capacity for Small-Scale Culinary Sector

An open session was held at BINUS University from the doctorate program of Doctor of Research in Management on Wednesday, 26 August 2020, in which Mr. David Tjahjana defended his dissertation titled ‘THE EFFECT OF DIGITAL BUSINESS ADOPTION AND ABSORPTIVE CAPACITY MODERATED BY FRUGAL INNOVATION TYPE AND FAMILY COMMITMENTS TO FIRM PERFORMANCE OF SMALL-SCALE CULINARY SECTOR’.

The focus of the dissertation defended by Mr. David Tjahjana is on small sector culinary MSMEs (Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises), how to implement digital business adoption, and be assisted by human absorption capacity in companies and innovation in company greetings.

The purpose of the research conducted by Mr. David Tjahjana is to adopt digital business by maximizing the resource capacity of the culinary MSME sector in companies with family nuances, in order to test the determinants of the performance of companies that innovate by adopting digital business by using frugal innovation moderation and family commitment.

In his research, Mr. David Tjahjana hopes that MSMEs will be able to innovate in order to continue from generation to generation in order to improve company performance, especially in company turnover. Mr. Tjahjana also hopes that the results of his research can be applied in the real world.

The continuation of the open session in which Mr. David Tjahjana attained his doctorate was chaired by Prof. Dr. Ir. Harjanto Prabowo, MM, as chairman of the session, Dr. Sri Bramantoro Abdi Nagoro, as the chief examiner, with Prof. Dr. Ir. Sasmoko, M.Pd. and Dr. Hari Santosa Sungkari, as examiner 1 and 2 respectively.

Mr. David Tjahjana’s session was also supported by Prof. Dr. Adler Haymans Manurung, M.Com., ME., CIMBA as promoter, Dr. Wibowo Kosasih, ST, SKom, MMSI, MComm (IS), and Nugroho Juli Setiadi, SE., MM., Ph.D as co-promoters 1 & 2.

With the graduation of Mr. David Tjahjana in the open session of the dissertation defense in the Doctor of Research in Management at BINUS BUSINESS SCHOOL, it will serve to demonstrate that the Doctor of Research in Management is a high-quality doctoral-level program. (AZIZAH)
