Developing Application Developers with Global Competencies Who Empower the Society through the Utilization of Technology

Indonesia is the world’s 4th most populous country in the world, with 54% Internet user penetration and 48% of its population are active in social media, mostly on mobile devices. Therefore, to stay relevant to the Industry 4.0 digital transformation era, business inevitably should transform by emphasizing digital and technology. It requires a high competence human resources that can identify real-world problems, conduct comprehensive research, and design real-life workable solutions through technology.

BINUS UNIVERSITY together with Apple presented the Apple Developers Academy @BINUS to respond to those challenges and deliver skillful world-class developers to provide solutions through technology – locally and globally.

On Tuesday, 14 January 2020, the Apple Developers Academy @BINUS graduated 194 students of its second cohort, who have passed the 10-months intensive program. Conducted at the BSD Green Office Park Auditorium, the graduation ceremony was attended by Bambang Permadi Soemantri Brodjonegoro (Minister for Research and Technology/Chairman of National Agency for Research and Innovation), Harjanto (Director General of Metal, Machine, Transportation Equipment, and Electronics Industries), Susiwijono Moegiarso (Representative of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia), Ahmed Zaki Iskandar (Regent of Tangerang), the Board of Management of BINUS Group, Apple representatives, industry partners, and the media.

In this graduation ceremony, the graduates got an opportunity to present their creations to the industry representatives from various sectors such as e-commerce, FMCG, banking, finance, and also a number of successful start-ups. The graduation ceremony then will be followed by the graduate showcase on 15-16 January 2020, where all graduates with a total of 36 applications will present their applications’ excellences in front of various companies.

In the future, BINUS UNIVERSITY will continue the commitment to develop excellent human resources through the (2+1)+1 program, where the Apple Developers Academy @BINUS is one of the grand programs of the (2+1)+1. The (2+1)+1 is a program that offers opportunities to students from all majors to obtain real-life working experience in one year. In that one year of their remaining college period, the students will learn many things outside of the campus as well as gain precious knowledge and experience from the multinational or global companies.

Through this program, they can get into the working world much earlier, which certainly will equip them with distinct advantages compared to the graduates from other universities. The (2+1)+1 program also allows them to apply their knowledge and adapt to the professional environment.
