The International Business program is fortunate to welcome Dr. Mark Loo, an Associate Professor from the Mihalcheon School of Management, Faculty of Management at Concordia University of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.   He is on sabbatical in Indonesia until December 21, 2017, collecting data to identify business opportunities between Indonesia and Canada, and Indonesian negotiating style.

His topic entitles “Global Competitiveness of ASEAN/Indonesia: Opportunities, Risks and Recommendations for Canadian Businesses.”  His target is 200 Indonesian respondents, aged 20 and above, who are entrepreneurs or professional managers of MSMEs and large firms. The expected outcomes of the research is to:

  1. Promote strategic alliances with Canadian firms to enhance Indonesian firms’ competitiveness and maximize the opportunities in Indonesia for win-win relationships.
  2. Promote greater awareness among Western nations on the sustainability of business with ASEAN and how to better manage the diversity of culture, governance and religion of each ASEAN member nation.

Besides his research agenda, he will be teaching one course of Business in ASEAN in undergraduate class, and Marketing Management in graduate class.
