Getting to the bottom line
GOALS
Becoming familiar with some of the steps to be taken to develop a professional development plan.
Understanding the concept of self-assessment, and the need to have a good understanding of one’s strengths and weaknesses in order to work systematically towards reaching a vision.
SESSION 3 OVERVIEW
A personal development plan helps you plan your career and decide on the next step that will get you closer to your vision.

Session 2 covered the first step of the process, vision-setting. In this session, you will work on step 2 and 3. You will gain knowledge and insights about yourself and your current situation that will help you make decisions based on a good self-understanding.
Step 1
Identifying important skills
As a group, read through each of the skill traits listed in the word cloud on the next page. Be sure to discuss all the skills, to ensure that everyone has a similar understanding of what each trait means.
1) Individually, mark the skills that you believe will be important for you in your future career.
2) Think of additional skills that could be included and list them in the table as well.
