A Holistic Learning Journey Over 10 Months

Participating as an intern at the Apple Developer Academy @ BINUS, Tangerang for 10 months became a truly transformative experience. Throughout the program, Angel gained exposure not only to app development but also to the broader process of building impactful digital products.

She learned about product thinking, user interface (UI) design, user experience (UX), and application development, along with essential soft skills such as collaboration, communication, adaptability, and problem-solving. Supported by dedicated mentors and surrounded by inspiring peers, she learned that creating digital solutions goes beyond technical skills, it requires empathy, iteration, and a deep understanding of users’ needs.

Kayata: Application born by Personal Experience

Kayata or Kaya Akan Kosakata is the final project Angel and her team developed at the Apple Developer Academy @ BINUS, where she led the team as Product Manager. For Angel, this application felt ‘personal’ due to her own experience. She has a younger sister who once experience language delay, which often made her easily frustrated and prone to tantrums because she struggled to express what she wanted.

Through research, the team found that language delay can be prevented by enriching children’s vocabulary. It helps children to understand words (receptive) and use words to communicate (expressive). However, many parents struggle to find tools to facilitate vocabulary learning that is personalized to their child’s interests, aligned with their language abilities, and engaging enough to keep them interested. Those insights became the background of Kayata. Kayata is the first personalized vocabulary learning app that empowers parents to facilitate fun and engaging vocabulary learning for children aged 1.5–3 years old. Simply input a word, and the playful vocabulary learning will be ready for child to play.

As the Product Manager, Angel led the research, defined the product direction, guided the development process, and ensured that everything was delivered on time. Kayata was built through extensive research, multiple user interviews, and countless iterations to make sure the solution is truly impactful for families.

Today, Kayata is officially available on the App Store: https://apps.apple.com/id/app/kayata/id6754830587
