Safe and Secure Meetings, How?
Starting this March 2020, where COVID-19 has change our lives. We are forced to stay at home, and spend most of our activities in front of our personal computer. All forms of activities include, among others, work, meetings, which then utilize technology facilities to the full. Many offices are seriously looking for a platform that can optimally facilitate their employees’ work. One of them is a video conference facility. There are many video conference providers, which actually existed long before the pandemic. Call it Skype, Big Blue Button, Blue Jeans, Microsoft Teams, Webex and Zoom.
Apart from the large number of video conference service providers, Zoom is the most sought after by the public. Either because it is considered light, simple, or because the price is very reasonable. To be sure the experience of using video conferencing through Zoom is one of its own experiences. However, the experience with Zoom was somewhat disturbed after news emerged that there were several important meetings in the world that used the Zoom service to be hacked by irresponsible actors, which came to be known as Zoombombing.
What does Zoombombing mean? from Wikipedia (2020) it is said that this term appears after an unwanted interruption event, and comes from an irresponsible party. To prevent Zoombombing from happening again, the Zoom party then took steps to raise the security system, from the start of the host, then waiting room.
If we have to use zoom, what should we do? First, make sure we know who are the participants who will attend the event. Second, avoid spreading the meeting password openly, preferably only to participants who will attend the event. Third, make sure someone is in charge of controlling activities through zooming and acting as a host. Fourth, activate the waiting room, and the host can allow if the participant’s name is the same as the name that appears in the waiting room.
Starting in April 2020, MMBlended Learning Zoom has licensed, to carry out all lecturing activities. We protect our lecturing activity, where all lectures when using Zoom will be monitored by team from Binus Business School to prevent Zoombombing.
