Pop-up refers to a notification in the form of a window that opens once you open your phone. Pop ups can be used for many reasons, such as to indicate a new message from an application or a system alert. Pop-up advertisements and pop-up windows are both types of online advertising on the Internet. An unexpected display area of a graphical user interface (GUI), typically a small window, that “pops up” in the middle of the visual interface to divert the focus is known as a pop-up.
The emergence of pop-up advertisements not only divert the viewers from their priorities, but also takes them towards a thought of watching them. Pop-up ads are advertising windows for products or services, any new offer or reminder that appears suddenly and without warning when you visit a website. These can also act as reminders to continue your online shopping cart or can assist in finding your previously searched but unavailable products.
Bad impression- Contrarily, pop-up advertisements act as a way of disruption among the users, according to a survey by Yahoo about 95% of people found pop-ups to be a disturbance while, from 2016 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of the influencing markets like pop-ups was 46.9% (Oberlo, 2022). As 25% of the businesses are losing or making money from these ads (Peng, 2023). Pop-ups can act as matter of creating a historically bad impression of the specific product in the viewers’ mind for a time. It gives the impression that the commercial is being shoved down the users’ throats. It may have an impact on the reputation of other websites. This can divert the user’s attention away from their original purpose, and it may be enough to send them to a competitor’s website.
