Strengthening Research Excellence: BINUS Business School Holds Research to Impact Masterclass

Jakarta, September 29, 2026 – In its ongoing commitment to fostering a strong research culture and enhancing the quality of academic publications, BINUS Business School organized the BINUS Research to Impact Masterclass, bringing together students from the Doctor of Research in Management (DRM) program and faculty members of BINUS Business School.

The masterclass featured Professor Mathews Nkhoma from RMIT University, who shared valuable insights and best practices on designing high-quality research that is not only publishable but also capable of creating meaningful impact across academia, industry, and society.

Through a session titled Designing Research That Deserves to Be Published, participants were encouraged to recognize that successful publications begin with a well-designed research foundation. Professor Nkhoma emphasized the importance of identifying relevant research problems, formulating clear research questions, selecting appropriate methodologies, and demonstrating meaningful contributions to both scholarly knowledge and managerial practice.

For Doctor of Research in Management (DRM) students, the session provided practical guidance on developing dissertation research with strong novelty, relevance, and academic significance. These insights are essential for producing scholarly work that meets international publication standards while addressing real-world challenges in management and business.

For BINUS Business School faculty members, the masterclass offered an opportunity to further strengthen research and publication strategies, while exploring ways to increase the visibility and impact of their scholarly work. Participants also gained valuable perspectives on selecting suitable academic journals, developing compelling manuscripts, and maximizing the broader influence of research beyond academic communities.

In addition to discussing publication strategies, the session highlighted the importance of creating research impact that extends beyond journal articles. High-quality research should not only contribute to academic discourse but also inform decision-making, support innovation, and drive positive change within organizations, industries, and society at large.

The BINUS Research to Impact Masterclass reflects BINUS Business School’s commitment to building a research ecosystem that is collaborative, impactful, and globally relevant. By bringing together doctoral students and faculty members in a shared learning environment, the event serves as a platform to strengthen research capabilities, encourage scholarly collaboration, and inspire research that addresses contemporary challenges and opportunities.
