Collaboration between the 11th BINUS Doctoral Progress Review (BDPR) and the Global Conference on Business & Economics Research (GCBER) 2026 at the School of Business & Economics, Universiti Putra Malaysia
Every dissertation begins with a question. Yet, turning a question into a meaningful scholarly contribution requires the courage to test ideas, embrace constructive criticism, and continuously refine one’s findings. This spirit lies at the heart of the BINUS Doctoral Progress Review (BDPR), an annual initiative of the BINUS Business School Doctor of Research in Management (DRM) Program, which provides doctoral students with an academic forum to present their research proposals and findings.

This year, the research journey of DRM students took a step further. In collaboration with the School of Business & Economics, Universiti Putra Malaysia (SBE UPM), as co-host and collaborator, BDPR 2026 was integrated into the Global Conference on Business & Economics Research (GCBER) 2026, held on September 9–10, 2026, at the SBE UPM campus. Under the theme “From Risk to Resilience: Energy Security and Business Sustainability in a Volatile World,” the conference served as a platform for bringing together ideas, experiences, and perspectives from institutions and countries across the globe.

The event commenced with welcoming remarks by Prof. Dr. Normaz Wana Ismail and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dahlia Zawawi, followed by a keynote speech delivered by Datuk Hanafi Sakri, Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Investment, Trade & Industry Malaysia. The program continued with presentations and discussions featuring invited speakers from both academia and industry, namely Prof. Dr. Baharom Abdul Hamid, Mr. Naguib Mohd. Nor, and Dr. Afiza Idris.
A total of 11 DRM students presented their dissertation research. Although only three students were able to attend the event on-site due to the closure of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport following the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau, the spirit of knowledge sharing remained strong.

The event concluded with a Publication Talk with Emerald Publishing, followed by recognition of researchers and presenters and an exchange of tokens of appreciation as a symbol of collaboration. For DRM, BDPR is more than simply a progress review; it is a journey toward developing researchers who are more confident, receptive to constructive criticism, and ready to bring their academic ideas to the global stage
