BINUS DSAS 2026 Strengthens Local SMEs through Community Engagement Program in Semarang

Semarang, May 23, 2026 – As part of the BINUS Doctoral & Scholars Annual Symposium (DSAS) 2026, BINUS University conducted a Community Engagement Program through a visit to Tanjungmas Village, North Semarang District. The initiative focused on empowering Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions aimed at enhancing the capacity and competitiveness of local business owners.

The program commenced with an introduction of the BINUS University team to village officials and participating community members. Participants then attended a session on SMEs Empowerment, which covered various aspects of MSME development, including business capacity building, competitiveness enhancement, and the importance of adapting to changes in the business environment, particularly in the era of digital transformation.

Through these sessions, participants gained valuable insights into sustainable business development strategies, including innovation, improved business management practices, and the utilization of opportunities that can support business growth.

In addition to the presentations, the program featured interactive discussions and question-and-answer sessions, providing MSME owners with the opportunity to share their experiences and discuss the challenges they encounter in managing their businesses. These interactions enabled participants to obtain practical insights and recommendations that could be applied to their day-to-day business operations.

This Community Engagement Program represents one of BINUS University’s tangible contributions to community empowerment and local economic development. Beyond providing benefits to MSME owners, the initiative also strengthened collaboration between higher education institutions and local communities in fostering a more resilient, innovative, and sustainable business ecosystem.

Through this initiative, BINUS University hopes to continue contributing to the enhancement of MSME capabilities while promoting community-based economic growth that generates positive impacts on regional development.
