The 9th BINUS Doctoral Progress Review (BDPR) – The 1st International Business Scholar Symposium (IBSS) 2024 in Collaboration with Universiti Sains Malaysia

The BINUS Doctoral Progress Review (BDPR) is an annual event organized by the Doctor of Research in Management (DRM) program under the BINUS Business School. This activity is designed to provide DRM students with a platform to present their research in an academic forum. The event serves as an opportunity for DRM students to showcase their research proposals and/or findings. It aims to accelerate the dissertation process by allowing students to refine their presentation skills and build confidence in articulating their research. Additionally, it provides a venue for them to receive constructive feedback and critique to improve their research quality.

For this year’s BINUS Doctoral Progress Review (BDPR), the Doctor of Research in Management program collaborates with the Graduate School of Business, Universiti Sains Malaysia, as a co-host for the inaugural 1st International Business Scholar Symposium (IBSS) 2024, under the theme “Building and Sustaining Organizational Resilience: Sustainable Value Creation and Steward Leadership into The Future”. The event took place in October 26-27, 2024, and at the Eureka Auditorium, Universiti Sains Malaysia, in Penang, Malaysia.

The program includes:

  • A power lecture featuring three keynote speakers.
  • A 5-minute dissertation (5MD) pitching competition on the first day.
  • Student paper presentations on the second day.

This partnership aims to enrich the academic experience by merging BDPR’s objectives with the broader scope of an international symposium.

The BDPR event began with an opening speech by the Dean of the Graduate School of Business, followed by a power lecture presented in a talk-show format. The session featured Prof. Dr. Idris Gautama So from BINUS Business School DRM, Prof. Dr. Sofri Yahya from the Graduate School of Business USM, and Dr. Sazani Safrie, an industry professional and alumnus of the Graduate School of Business USM. The session was moderated by Dr. Ellisha Nazruddin from the Graduate School of Business USM.

In the afternoon, a special event for DRM students, the 5-Minute Dissertation (5MD) Pitching Competition, took place. The competition featured 13 participants and was attended by all IBSS participants, including those from DRM and USM. The judges awarded Risye Dillianti as the first place, Doni Sukarno as the second place, and Bambang Leo Handoko as the third place.

The second day of IBSS 2024 featured student paper presentations, with 36 papers from BINUS Business School Doctor of Research in Management (DRM) and 12 papers from the Graduate School of Business, Universiti Sains Malaysia.
