Theory of Entrepreneurship: Creativity and Entrepreneurship

In a video session, Dr. Rano Kartono Rahim, B.IT. M. Bus (MIS) delivered a topic on the Theory of Entrepreneurship, focusing on Creativity and Entrepreneurship and how they are interconnected.

Creativity, as per the theory, is a vital aspect of entrepreneurship, encompassing inspiration, vision, idea generation, imagination, innovation, motivation, and knowledge. Research by Mei in 1975 and Matle and Gom in 1985 suggests that creativity is the generation of new ideas that lead to improved efficiency and effectiveness. In 1996, Amabile introduced the concept of creativity as a starting point for innovation, leading to something bigger: creativity entrepreneurship. According to Rotterington, in 2023, creativity enables people to connect and form new ideas, which then become innovative ideas to be pursued. Creativity is essential for optimizing employee potential, competing effectively, product development, and market development in entrepreneurship. It is further explained that entrepreneurship involves converting ideas into innovative business activities through creativity, action, motivation, skill, and expertise.

Creativity and entrepreneurship cannot be separated, as they work together to generate ideas and turn them into innovations. In the context of entrepreneurship, creativity is essential for optimizing employee potential, competing effectively, product development, status, and market development. The dimensions of entrepreneurship include education, knowledge, managing disruptions, technology, motivation, incentives, managing resources, and institutional background, collectively referred to as entrepreneurial vitality. The ultimate goal is to contribute to economic growth.

Entrepreneurial creativity is both need-driven and fun-driven, and the balance between these aspects is crucial. While creativity, innovation, and dynamic systems organizations differ from entrepreneurship, entrepreneurship cannot be separated from creativity as they work together to generate ideas and turn them into successful innovations.

The video below, presented by Dr. Rano Kartono Rahim, B.IT. M. Bus (MIS) provides a better understanding of the topic.
