Benefits of Electronic Bill Presentment and Payment (EBPP)
- Improve payment efficiency
- Increase customer loyalty
- Provides more communication security than cash
- Increases effectiveness and time efficiency
- Provide ease of awareness and expansion of payment media
Buying goods over the Internet has become very popular because these use cases are very easy to implement over the Internet and have been made safe by various protocols. However, looking at bills such as credit card bills and utility bills has not been so widespread, although there are facilities that serve this; Most people don’t know about this or are more comfortable with paper bills. So, although bills can be viewed online, there is often little way to pay for them, if any. In this way, the EBPP is still incomplete.
Over the past few decades, banks have partnered with various financial and service companies to enable customers to pay their bills online through the bank’s dedicated online facilities; That is if the customer has an account at the bank. This is more of a tactic to get people to open a bank account than an actual EBPP. The actual EBPP must be done through a single facility that is directly controlled by the organization that does the actual billing and should be very similar to E-commerce, which is very simple and allows users to choose from many payment methods.
