Working From Home (Team Player)
Being a team player and knowing you matter
Nothing is as motivating or satisfying as being on a winning team. It’s true for football teams, chess teams, and virtual teams alike.
Due to the increased focus on communication, collaboration, trust, and accountability on virtual teams, oftentimes their effectiveness and connection far exceeds teams who work in the same office.
This level of production and comradery doesn’t happen by chance. It happens when the team has a leader in place who sets clear expectations and communicates effectively, and when team members collaborate well, leverage technology, and hold each other accountable.
This is what a highly functional and motivated remote team looks like:
» You talk, chat, or connect daily.
» Trust is firmly established.
» You love to share the spotlight and see each other succeed.
» You and your colleagues behave the same way and say the same things in team meetings as you do in one-on-one conversations or chats.
» If a line is ever crossed, that behavior is immediately addressed, discussed, and reframed. » You don’t hesitate to pitch in to help out a colleague.
» Everyone is deeply respectful of the cultural differences of teammates.
» You effortlessly connect on a personal level with teammates.
» When issues arise, you deal with them and move on without grudges, simmering resentment, or sidebar conversations.
» There is lively give and take, listening, and understanding during team meetings.
» People are relaxed, and laughter is a normal occurrence. You have fun together.
