Introduction to Business Intelligence and Analytic
Business Intelligence (BI) is a set of techniques that used in analyzing and transforming raw data which obtained from business activities to produce useful information that is useful in achieving business goals. This technique is used in dealing with unstructured data with a very large or unlimited size amount to identify, develop, and create new strategies so that the business is able to have a competitive market advantage and long-term stability. For companies, the existence of BI can be used in supporting business decisions ranging from operations to strategies, such as product placement and pricing, to strategic decisions including priorities, goals and directions at a higher and broader level. BI is the person in charge of company data that is used in understanding how business in the company can run and monitor its progress in real time. However, BI can actually be adjusted to the company, such as for financial analysis, research analysis, and computer system analysis.
(Shamini Raja Kumaran, 2016) Meanwhile, Business Analytics (BA) is a complement to BI, so that the results of data analysis that have been obtained from BI can be used optimally to predict what will happen in the future. BA can help strategize, identify market opportunities, improve customer relationships, pinpoint potential risks and reduce threats based on past evaluation and analysis. BA can be used in several ways, including Database Developer (increasing database to handle raw data that is not well organized), Database Administrator (preparing, managing, and securing databases to be able to store information effectively in the company), and Data Analysis Manager (interpreting and communicating data effectively to the team to help make strategic plans). If BI generally uses an user interface dashboard to analyze, BA uses many tools including even a software application to complete its work.
