Help a Team Member Improve Their Follow-Through

When a colleague or direct report fails to follow through on a task or promise, it’s rarely intentional. More often, it’s the result of an underlying issue, such as unclear responsibilities or unrealistic goals. To identify what’s really going on — and fix it — check to make sure you’re not part of the problem. Instead of wondering, “Why aren’t they doing their part?” ask “Is there anything I can do differently to help?” Then, approach the individual for their perspective. For example, if the person is constantly missing deadlines, you could say, “I’ve noticed that you seem to need a little more time to get the work done lately.” Provide specific examples, then ask, “What can we do to help you get back on track?” If your team member feels emotionally safe, they are more likely to work with you to solve the problem. Finally, work together to set realistic expectations and a plan for moving forward. And, of course, agree on a way to measure progress, so the problem doesn’t happen again. |

Melyana Pangestu Melyana Pangestu / 2001553112 Based on this article, I realized that if our staff or colleagues didn’t complete their tasks, they might have problems completing their tasks. When that happens, we can ask them questions and ascertain what we can do to help them complete their tasks...maybe give them a little more time to get the work done, or whatever. So, finally all work went according to plan.

Jemmy Young Nama: Jemmy Young NIM: 2001624651 it happen often happen to me. for example when i work with my team doing assignments from lecturer, the result from from my team sometimes is not like what we expected and sometimes late from deadline. and from my experience to fix this problem before doing assignment each team member must communiate with each other about what and how to do the assignment.

When other members don’t finish their work, maybe other member won’t finish their work too. The work can’t finish because of their works are related and it must be finish by team not by individually. So, we can give more time for them to finish their work. Others suggestions for them are giving them some advice to finish their work or give their little help so they can find out what is missing from their work. After the work runs well, it can move forward and follow the plan again.

You are degrading them by tolerating their laziness. And if your boss notices, tell him/her that you've done your job while they didn't. Let your boss know by sending him/her end of shift reports of what you've done based on daily goals. Leave on time. There's no room for compassion here.

What are we gonna do are: identify what happened, fix it, and make sure there isn’t a problem. So this article taught us how to act if we face the situation like this.
