The Digital Business Program at BINUS University International proudly celebrates the latest research achievement of Willy Gunadi, Ph.D., who, together with Suhardjo Moeliadi, Prof. Mts. Arief, and Rano Kartono Rahim, Ph.D., has published a research article in the international journal Banks and Bank Systems. Their paper, titled “The Impact of Collaboration Capability, Ambidextrous Leadership and Digital Capability on Bank Performance Sustainability,” was published in Volume 20, Issue 1 (2025).

The study examines one of today’s most important challenges in the banking industry: how banks can achieve sustainable performance in an increasingly digital and competitive environment. As financial technology continues to reshape the industry, banks are forming more partnerships with fintech companies and technology providers. However, many of these collaborations fail to deliver the expected outcomes. This research investigates the organizational capabilities that enable successful and sustainable collaboration.

Using a quantitative research approach, the researchers surveyed senior executives from private commercial banks across Indonesia and analyzed the data using Structural Equation Modeling with Partial Least Squares (SEM PLS). The study found that collaboration capability plays a significant role in improving sustainable bank performance. It also demonstrates that digital capability strengthens both collaboration capability and organizational sustainability. Meanwhile, ambidextrous leadership, which balances innovation with operational efficiency, enhances collaboration capability but does not directly improve sustainable performance without the support of continuous learning and innovation.

The findings emphasize that digital transformation is not solely about adopting new technologies. Sustainable success also depends on developing strong partnerships, investing in digital capabilities, and cultivating leaders who can balance exploration of new opportunities with the efficient execution of existing operations. Together, these capabilities help banks remain competitive, deliver greater value to customers, and adapt to an evolving digital ecosystem.

This publication reflects the Digital Business Program’s commitment to advancing impactful research that addresses real world business challenges while contributing to international academic knowledge. We congratulate Willy Gunadi, Ph.D. and his co authors on this outstanding achievement and look forward to their continued contributions to digital business research and innovation.
