The discussion covered key aspects of Brazil’s economic environment, trade relations, consumer characteristics, business opportunities, and practical considerations for companies seeking to enter and operate in the Brazilian market.

Beyond macroeconomic and trade perspectives, the session also highlighted the importance of understanding local market conditions, consumer preferences, distribution channels, business practices, and regulatory considerations when developing an international market-entry strategy. These insights helped students understand how country-level economic and institutional factors shape business decisions in practice.

The guest lecture complemented the Global Business Environment course, in which students were working on an international market expansion project involving Erabella, an Indonesian perfume brand. Brazil was examined as one of the potential target markets, allowing students to connect classroom-based market analysis with practical insights from a diplomatic and trade perspective.

Through this interaction, students were able to move beyond secondary market data and develop a more contextual understanding of the opportunities and challenges associated with entering the Brazilian market. The session also highlighted the role of embassies and economic diplomacy in supporting international trade, investment, business networking, and cross-border economic cooperation.

The activity further strengthened the connection between international business concepts and real-world market practices, while exposing students to perspectives from international institutions and global market stakeholders.

International Business students at BINUS University had the opportunity to gain firsthand insights into Brazil’s economy, international trade, investment environment, and market-entry conditions through a guest lecture delivered by a representative from the Embassy of Brazil in Jakarta.
