Binus\u00a0University\u2019s\u00a02035 vision\u00a0entitled\u00a0\u201cFostering and Empowering the society in Serving and Building the Nation\u201d\u00a0which\u00a0cascaded into\u00a01 transition stage and 3 phases.\u00a0At the transition period, ranging from 2019 \u2013 2021, Binus\u00a0University strives to focus on DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION & ECOSYSTEM BUILDING, which highlight on building ecosystems to support data, research, academic improvement, and digital transformation for addressing community needs.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The world has suffered from the global pandemic, and as a result many significant changes are taking place in every country’s economy, business, and society.\u00a0In order to\u00a0maintain business and social resilience, many companies are making changes to their business models that have been adapted to the current situation. In Indonesia,\u00a0the\u00a0COVID-19 pandemic is a different crisis that mainly affected SMEs.\u00a0 The pandemic has affected over 60 million SMEs, and their performance was significantly deteriorated by relatively 30 to 90% due to the “social distancing” policy and their dependency on “face to face” type of transaction, which is common in the traditional market. Conversely, only less than 15% of SMEs were exposed to digitalization.\u00a0 Indonesia is forecasted to\u00a0face a recession due to this crisis, and SMEs are expected to encounter severe challenges. Therefore, without recovery support, SMEs are bound to survive less than 12 months.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The 3<\/span>rd<\/span>\u00a0International Lecture Week\u00a0points out\u00a0challenges and types of resilience and cluster issues facing\u00a0enterprises\u00a0that need to be resolved to prepare recovery, and one of them is Information Technology. For many businesses, including SMEs, participation in the digital economy is the key to greater resiliency. The\u00a0company\u2019s resilience and sustainability in\u00a0Indonesia is an interesting topic yet an actual illustration of the recent trends of how Asian country\u2019s economy and businesses emerge in current pandemic\u00a0COVID-19.\u00a0It is thus\u00a0showcasing\u00a0the importance of\u00a0how\u00a0Digital Transformation\u00a0and Entrepreneurship blend\u00a0into the ILW theme.<\/span><\/p>\n
