BINUS University recently participated in the prestigious BFI Case Jam, held on August 30-31, 2024, by the Business Families Institute Singapore Management University (SMU). This two-day event brings a fresh and dynamic approach to case competitions by incorporating innovation, collaboration, and analytics. Participants tackled real-world business challenges, specifically those faced by family-owned firms, with a focus on delivering innovative and actionable solutions.

Four outstanding students from BINUS Business Undergraduate Program, the International Undergraduate Program and Finance International proudly represented BINUS University, showcasing their analytical prowess and creativity. Their participation led to an impressive haul of five awards, highlighting the institution’s dedication to cultivating business acumen and creative problem-solving skills.

1st Place Winner – Day 1: Lucyanna Geraldine

Lucyanna Geraldine – 2502014002 – International Business Management Global Class

Lucyanna Geraldine, a standout member of the BINUS Business Consulting Group (BBCG), led her team to victory on Day 1. They addressed the challenge of revenue growth by recommending two strategies: expanding offline store presence and repositioning the brand as a premium offering, tailored to specific market segments.

 

2nd Place Winner – Day 1: Aurelia Banowati Hutami

Aurelia Banowati Hutami – 2602130104 – International Business

Aurelia Banowati Hutami, another stellar performer from BINUS University, secured 2nd place on Day 1. Her team focused on enhancing the company’s revenue stream through a personalized subscription meal plan and targeted marketing for their product line, SlurpSelect.

 

1st Place Winner – Day 2: Lucyanna Geraldine

Lucyanna Geraldine – 2502014002 – International Business Management Global Class

Lucyanna’s remarkable performance continued into Day 2, where she once again claimed 1st place. This time, her team tackled cost-cutting issue by proposing the use of high-quality, imperfect goods for soup production, alongside a strategic bidding process for suppliers and reducing the weight of packaging materials. These innovative solutions were designed to significantly reduce the company’s cost of goods sold (COGS) without compromising product quality.

 

2nd Best Individual Performer: Lucyanna Geraldine

Lucyanna Geraldine – 2502014002 – International Business Management Global Class

In recognition of her outstanding performance across both days, Lucyanna was also named the 2nd Best Individual Performer in the competition. This accolade reflects her leadership, critical thinking, and ability to develop comprehensive strategies in a high-pressure environment.

 

2nd Best Performing Guest University: BINUS University

In addition to individual accolades, BINUS University was named the 2nd Best Performing Guest University, a testament to the collective excellence of its participants. This recognition reinforces BINUS’ role as a leader in cultivating business talent and fostering a collaborative, solutions-driven mindset among its students on par with World’s top university, Melbourne University that received the 1st Best Performing Guest University.
