One of the ways we enriched student learning was by inviting an industry practitioner as a guest lecture to share their experience and knowledge. On Wednesday, January 8th, 2020 we had the opportunity to have a good friend of mine to come and shared his knowledge on Human Resource Management and Entrepreneurship. Doni Priliandi, co-founder of Happy5, an Indonesian-based HR start-up with Forbes 500 list as its clientele, poured out his heart to students on what it takes to be an entrepreneur.

His enthusiasm exudes originality, passion, and grit – a quality he reiterated of being your own boss – as he explained the importance of navigating the high and low points as you’re pursuing your goal.

Few takeaways from the talk:

1.       Be stubborn on the mission, but be flexible on the strategy

2.       Dream big. Starts with what you have but reach for the stars

3.       Focus on the things you can control today. It’s a marathon not a sprint.

4.       Having the right partner and mentor is crucial for your growth

“If your dream is so big, you cannot do the same thing like your friends do. Do the extraordinary…out of the box…do the crazy thing!” – Doni Priliandi
