The bottled water industry in Indonesia has developed rapidly, with the market’s growing interest added in it. One of the most popular and highly improved company in this area is PT Tirta Investama. As the holder of Danone AQUA brand, PT Tirta Investama continues to grow until it becomes the market leader. The leaders in the company have been playing a major role in this success.
In April 18, 2013, BINUS Business School invited the President Director of PT Tirta Investama – Danone AQUA Group, Charlie Cappetti to share his experience with the students, professionals from various industries and entrepreneurs in the event ‘CEO Speaks On Leadership’ which was held at BINUS Senayan Campus, the Joseph Wibowo Center (JWC).
AQUA, which was established by the late Tirto Utomo, is the pioneer of bottled water company in Indonesia. Back then, it was still under PT Golden Mississippi. In September 4, 1998, AQUA and Danone Group made a deal and started to work together. This move mad a huge impact on the improvement of product quality and it made AQUA the biggest bottled water producer in Indonesia.
Now, Danone AQUA has 17 factories and they need competent leaders to manage more than 12,000 employees (often called Danoners).
As the main company for AQUA, Danone Group is applying Danone Leadership CODE (Commited, Open, Doers, Empowering), which is a distinct culture of leadership inspired by the values of the company; Danone leaders must have the commitment to create better future, open themselves to learn and share with others, while at the same time being an adaptive person so they can develop human resources.
Meanwhile, Danone Group also has dual commitment, namely: maintaining the growth in the economy sector and paying attention to the social aspects. These are shown by a business approach which combines the economy purposes with environmental and social goals.
This commitment has become the main anchor for PT Tirta Investama in innovating. They managed to obtain several awards, in business, branding, environmental preservation, to packaging.
The society’s support has been helping AQUA to give the best as they continue to develop themselves with Indonesia. In its 40th year, with a new spirit, AQUA hopes to continue helping to create a better Indonesia. They are doing this by producing bottled water in high-quality packages and by coming up with various initiatives; for a better future, for a better Indonesia.
